A/B Ride: NEW START LOCATION Mt. Hamilton To Junction Cafe for lunch
Mt. Hamilton and Junction Cafe for lunch
Hopefully there's some intrepid A riders looking for a big ride this weekend. The weather should be nice (a bit warm even) and the wildflowers should be plentiful. This is a ride I've been wanting to do for a while now.
This Saturday's A ride will be starting at Boggini park in San Jose, meet at 8:45 am for a 9:00 am start. Because the lower section of Mt. Hamilton road is closed due to a washout, we'll head up the steep Quimby Road to pick up Mt. Hamilton Road (highway 130) near Joseph Grant county park. Then we'll head over Mt. Hamilton (stopping at the top for regroup/water) and continue all the way to the Junction Cafe at the intersection of Mines Road and Highway 130. There we'll have lunch before returning the way we came. If anyone wants a shorter ride, you can turn around at the top of Mt. Hamilton for a roughly 34 mile, 5500 feet of climbing ride.
Water is available on top of Mt. Hamilton and at the Junction Cafe.
Meeting location: Boggini Park, 3080 Remington Way, San Jose, California
Route:
70 miles, 9500 feet of climbing
