Hello
SCCCC Members,
I
realize that most of you helped with last weekends successful Santa Cruz
Mountains Challenge. Penni Bengtson is a former club member and I think
Roadrunner editor. She needs help putting on this event. Contact Penni
directly if interested – she is cc’ed on this message.

Subject: Volunteers Needed for Santa Cruz Sprint
To Track Club, Cycling Club,
and Tri Club volunteer coordinators,
I really need some help with volunteers for the following areas for the
Santa Cruz Sprint Triathlon on August 10. If you or your neighbors and
friends can help that would be a huge help. Since this is a sprint,
the shifts are short and really helps out if people can help out with a
couple of areas as the race progresses, since the whole thing will be over in 4
hours or less! Each volunteer get a cool race t-shirt, food and can hang
around and list to live bluegrass music after their shifts!
Here's where we need people and shifts of volunteers:
Morning Set-Up around Transition - helping with cones, directional signs,
hanging banners on fences, ,etc. - (need 4) 5:30 - 8:00 am
Registration and Volunteer Check-In (4 people) 6:00 - 8:00 am
Body Marking and Transition Traffic Control (ie: bike out/in, run out,
etc) - ( 4 more people) 6:30 - 10:00
Bike Course - (25 - 30 people ) We need as
many people as we can get here. The main traffic sign
set up will need to be done by 6:30am and there are team captains for zones on
this. But we'll need to have at least 25 - 30 volunteers placed along the
course to monitor traffic and cheer the cyclists on. Volunteers will need
to be on the course by no later than 8:00 am and they will be done by
10:00. Check-in no later than 7:00 am. People can drive/ride out to
their locations along Delaware and West Cliff.
Run Course - Need 5 more for West Cliff Drive.
Please let me know if you have folks who can help out with this event as soon
as possible. The bike course is the most critical part for adult
volunteers because they city requires that an adult be the primary volunteer on
the bike and run course. We have some help with Harbor High Water Polo
and Cross country but since most of them are under 18 we need to keep them on
the swim and in transition areas.
Thanks,
Penni
